When attempting to negotiate a contract with a large transcription agency, the CFO of a hospital operated by a very wealthy Catholic charity insisted that, since the hospital was a nonprofit organization, there was no reason for it to pay any rate which would give a transcription agency a profit margin. Instead, the CFO expected all work to be transcribed at cost.
The dumbfounded agency owner, who had hoped to win the hospital's account, immediately broke off negotiations and left the room in a complete state of shock.
