Just as doctors cannot be sure of maintaining their relationship with a patient, patients have become equally unsure about maintaining a sound relationship with the physician of their choice. If their physician retires, merges his practice with those of several other physicians, or no longer accepts co-payments from the patient's insurer, the patient may have to find another doctor.
