Clerical Staff in the Medical Record Department

The clerical staff is responsible for making sure that transcribed reports are placed in the proper charts. If, for instance, a patient is readmitted to the hospital or comes in through the Emergency Room, the clerical staff is responsible for retrieving and updating the chart.

If reports must be delivered to the nursing stations on different floors of the hospital, these clerks may periodically make "delivery rounds." These are the people to contact if you need to locate a patient's chart.
