Re-Engineering Tasks and Costs

What has been accomplished by re-engineering the entire process of distributing report copies?

  • A systematic way of naming documents has been created which can trace documents generated by any dictating physician.

  • The sorting and distribution of all copies of reports for physicians has been accomplished electronically, rather than manually. Much of the process has been automated.

  • The costs of paper, toner supplies and some postage -- that would normally be borne by the hospital have been redistributed to the dictating physicians.

  • The time and labor required to print extra copies of reports for each physician have been redistributed to each physician's office staff.
