Clinical Specialization

As physicians have become more specialized in their practices, a patient no longer seeks out the "mere" services of a dermatologist, pediatrician, or general surgeon. Instead, the patient may be referred to a hand specialist for treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome, a neurologist who specializes in treating migraine headaches, or a pediatric oncologist.
